NEW YORK— Today, George Conway, a lifelong advocate for the rule of law and long-time fighter against Donald Trump, launched his Democratic campaign for Congress in New York’s 12th Congressional District.
In a video released this morning, Conway pledges to fight for the rule of law, to take on Trump and Trumpism with everything he has, and to build an economy that works for every New Yorker.

George Conway said, “I’m running for Congress to take the fight directly back to [Trump] on your behalf, on the behalf of New Yorkers to whom I owe so much. To protect the fundamental rights and basic economic needs of all New Yorkers. To make our nation better than it was before. To write new laws that will safeguard our democracy so that we don’t end up facing autocracy ever again.

Conway: When we see it.
Trump: “We’re gonna walk down to the Capitol.”
Conway: Hear it.
Trump: “We will give them pardons.”
Conway: Read it and feel it, we find it hard to believe. But it’s real. It’s happening on the streets of New York City every day, and just when you think it can’t get any worse, it does. It has to stop. We must make it stop.
Conway: We have a corrupt president, a mendacious president, a criminal president whose masked agents are disappearing people from our streets, who’s breaking international law, and he’s running our federal government like a mob protection racket.
Conway: As for the economy, hey, it’s great for him. Crypto, watches, golden sneakers. But for everyone else? Groceries, healthcare, prices skyrocketing and millions losing coverage,
Conway: And he claims now…
Trump: “Affordability is a hoax.”
Conway: I know how to fight these people. They are corrupt, amoral people. They will stop at nothing to rig the system for themselves. I’ve been fighting Trump for years, and nothing stopped me.
Conway: My name is George Conway. I’m the son of a high school educated Navy guy and Filipino immigrant. I came to New York City in 1988 and built a 30 year career here as a lawyer, amongst the greatest people in the greatest city in the world. A former Republican, now a Democrat, I fought Trump publicly in every way I could, and I paid a price.
Conway: I’ll never regret standing up to Trump or for the victims he abused, helping E. Jean Carroll sue Trump for raping her and lying about it. Now Trump owes E. Jean $88 million. He doesn’t like me. I don’t like what he’s done to our great country.
Conway: And now I’m running for Congress to take the fight directly back to him on your behalf, on the behalf of New Yorkers to whom I owe so much. Meet George Conway
George Conway put everything on the line to take on Donald Trump and defend democracy. Now he’s running for Congress as a Democrat, because New York needs a battle-tested fighter to protect the rule of law, secure abortion rights, lower costs, and defeat Trump and Trumpism.
George is the son of a Navy enlisted man and a Filipino immigrant. He lives in Chelsea with his Corgi Clyde.

George is an accomplished lawyer who spent his career defending the Constitution, advocating for women who have been abused by Trump and other powerful men, and fighting for the core American values of freedom, opportunity, and the rule of law.
George is a former Republican, but when Donald Trump hijacked the Republican Party and twisted it into a scam for corruption, cruelty, and authoritarian power, George no longer had a home in the Republican Party.
Regardless of party, George’s life has always been about defending the rule of law, and standing up to those who abuse their power. He left the GOP because he knew he had to stand up against bigotry, hatred, and lawlessness, no matter the cost.
George went on offense. He exposed Trump’s lies, corruption, and lawlessness in the media and in the courts. He cofounded the Lincoln Project to help defeat Trump at the ballot box in 2020; founded the Society of the Rule of Law, an organization of lawyers fighting Trump’s attacks on the justice system; and campaigned aggressively for President Biden and Vice President Harris. He told E. Jean Carroll that she had a good case against Donald Trump, who raped her and then defamed her, and connected her to the lawyer who won $88 million in verdicts. George worked with Trump’s other victims in an effort to defeat him in 2024.
Trump knows how effective George is at fighting back, so he’s lashed out, calling George a “stone cold LOSER.” George wears it as a badge of honor.
Now, the dangers George warned about are becoming reality. Masked agents are snatching people from the streets. The Department of Justice is prosecuting political opponents. Pardons are handed out to the rich, the connected, and the loyal—government run like a mob operation.
George has seen firsthand how big money poisons our politics. That’s why he won’t take a dime of corporate PAC money and is running a people-powered grassroots campaign.
